What’s the first thing I should do in ArchiCAD 16?

Despite the obvious appeal of having a play with the Morph Tool in ArchiCAD 16 the first thing you will probably do is open a project from an older version. Make sure you open the Library Manager once the Project has loaded and Consolidate your Libraries. File > Libraries and Objects  > Library Manager

Dear James,

In Oz we still don’t have 16 but I am reading up on the whole transition process.

Also looking at http://www.graphisoft.com/ftp/publishing/ac16_help_INT/Files/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=MigrationGuide.03.14.html#1295159

Please could you clarify the process where all libraries are on a BIM server especially wrt Cadimage tools? A little unsure.

In summary I think:
1
Load ‘Migration Libraries’ on to BIM server.
2
Open file in AC16
3
Press consolidate button
4
remove (say) AC15 libraries and ensure AC16 ones are loading(?)- or is this automatic?

Also do we have to use observe elements command as per 15?

And for upgrading versions prior to 15 do we need to upgrade Coverings as we did with 15?

If you are coming from ArchiCAD 15 to 16 everything should be fine, thats only needed if it’s an older version your are migrating from.

Hi there is a specific migration process for TW projects http://www.graphisoft.com/ftp/publishing/ac16_help_INT/Files/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=MigrationGuide.03.20.html#1289678

Cadimage Library 16 is installed in ArchiCAD Library 16 so there are no specific Cadimage steps.

It is always good practice to save a pln of TW projects before migration. (I actually encourage customers to save pln’s of TW projects everyday as these are the easiest files to “restore”)

Also, double check all, and I mean ALL the labels, anywhere … can be interesting …

Labels are one of the improvements in ArchiCAD 16 so like everything they should be checked after migration.
