Paint-01 is the default material for a lot of ArchiCAD elements however when viewing in 3D people have commented that it looks more like a dull grey
The reason for this is lighting and shadows, very rarely do you get a pure white as it would be difficult to see in the 3D window
However if you want to set it up so that it appears closer to how you want it we will need to edit the material settings
Go to Options>Elements Attributes>Materials and from the drop down list select Paint-01
The reflection of light can determine how ‘bright’ a material appears so increasing the Ambient and Diffuse reflection can improve things slights
However if you adjust the Emission colour to a lighter grey it will appear much brighter
NOTE: If you set it to white the material may be difficult to see in 3D so there needs to be some shading

If you find you are working with a lot of white elements that are hard to see in the 3D window you can change the background to some other color in the 3D window settings dialogue. I like blue/gray.
