Roof Surface Area

To get the surface are of a roof, turn on the Element Information Palette, go to Window > Palettes > Element Information.  Within this palette select the Element Surface icon (second to last) and select you roof.  The Surface Top is the area you want.

Showing Floor Area

Both the Fill tool and the Zone tool are easy ways to display the floor area of your project, the Fill tool has a Show Area Text option within the tool Settings and the Zone tool has an accompanying stamp which can display area (along with other information)
