If you never need the 15deg. incremental Guide Lines, don’t turn them ‘off’, simply set the increment to 90deg. and you can still automatically snap to your vertical and horizontal.

Removing Guidelines

To remove all Guide Line Segments on a PC, hit Ctrl+` (the button next to 1, below esc) for Mac use Command+i (NZ Customers).  Alternatively go up to the Guide Line icon and click Remove all Guide Lines.

Guide Line Incremental angle

To set the incremental angle of your Guide Lines, go to Options > Work Environment > Guide Lines and set the desired angle.  If your project has no angled walls, you can set this to 90 so ArchiCAD automatically snaps to only horizontal and vertical.

Workspace Rulers

To activate the Rulers in ArchiCAD 13, hit the Ruler icon at the top of your screen.  From the Rulers you can get a visual location of your cursor and drag out Guide Lines.

Creating Guidelines

You can create your own Guide Lines by hiting Shift+` (the button next to 1) on a PC or Shift+I (for NZ Users) on a Mac.  Alternatively for both platforms, use the pulldown menu to the right of the Guide Line icon and click the Create Guide Line Segment button.
