Turn off the Trace Reference (Alt+F2 for PC, Shiftt+F2 for Mac) if ArchiCAD is running slowly or items from other views are unintentionally appearing. This is a great feature of ArchiCAD but can create a processing overhead if not needed.
If you are using Trace and Reference on a layout, checking the Print Reference box from the Print dialog will ensure the Reference is printed as well.
Speed up Trace & Reference: If you are using a Section or Elevation view as your trace reference you may experience performance loss due to the fact that the view is being continuously re-generated. If you do not need this, you can turn it off by going to WorkEnvironment > More Options… and un-checking Update
To toggle Off / On specific element groups in a Reference, from the Trace & Reference Palette, use the pullout menu next to the Reference: intensity slider and untick / tick the elements.
If you are using Trace and Reference and discover something wrong with your reference drawing, you can quickly switch to it using the “Switch Reference with Active” button (from the Trace and Reference palette) to rectify it.
If you are not using the Trace & Reference, turning it OFF will speed up your machine. The Shorcut Key to toggle it on and off is Alt+F2 (PC) or Shift+F2 (Mac). Alternatively you can hit the Trace and Reference icon in your Toolbar.
To toggle the Trace Reference ON & OFF hit Shift+F2 (for Mac) or Alt+F2 (for PC)
